Alshair Fiyaz Makes a Difference in Malawi

With more than 50% of the population living below the poverty line, and almost 11% of the population HIV positive, Alshair Fiyaz in on a mission to improve the conditions in Malawi. Driven by a philosophy of inspiring and investing in the human spirit, Fiyaz founded the ALFI Foundation, a charitable organization that has supported the endeavors of making our world a better place since its incorporation in 2017.

For years, Fiyaz invested in a range of projects designed specifically to support the development of under-privileged individuals, communities and wildlife, and to empower social mobility, disregarding international borders and other ethnic and cultural boundaries. The ALFI Foundation believes in supporting organizations determined to influence positive change for current and future generations. Taking an entrepreneurial and multi-faceted approach to philanthropy, The ALFI Foundation considers projects and initiatives that are both positive and pragmatic.

The ALFI Foundation has supported the New York-based Face-to-Face Project, which does vital work to raise awareness of health issues and reduce social stigma in Malawi, as well as fostering comprehensive organic farming methods to protect the environment and supporting community service projects to foster youth development.

Fiyaz’s efforts have helped initiatives like The Face-to-Face Project’s Victory Garden Campaign, a program that allows local community members to gain the skills and knowledge they need to grow enough food to eat, earn income, improve nutrition and lead healthy lives. Since The Victory Garden Campaign’s official launch in July 2016, 29,229 productive home victory gardens in 161 villages in central and southern Malawi have been created, transforming the lives of thousands of villagers.

Because of this success, thanks to humanitarians such as Fiyaz, the Face-to-Face Project is excited to continue creating victory gardens in Malawi, and in the process, help villagers facing hunger and poverty become food secure and self-reliant.

ALFI Foundation Fights For Endangered Wildlife

Following in the footsteps of philanthropic leaders of the past, business mogul and humanitarian Alshair Fiyaz paves the way for transformational environmental change. Driven by a philosophy of inspiring and investing in the human spirit, Fiyaz founded the ALFI Foundation, a charitable organization that has supported the endeavors of making our world a better place for over a decade.

Taking an entrepreneurial and multi-faceted approach to philanthropy, the Foundation considers projects and initiatives that are both positive and pragmatic.

The ALFI Foundation covers a wide spectrum of charitable efforts, including educational reform, eradication of disease, emergency shelter and relief, and wildlife conservation. Recently, a funding grant from the ALFI Foundation has supported the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation as it works to protect and restore the Tshiaberimu Gorilla ecosystem. This three-year project will support efforts to protect the lowland Gorillas of Virunga National Park in central Africa from extinction. Rampant poaching, destruction of habitat, and lack of support for gorilla conservation have driven this species to the brink of extinction. As a result, the population in Virunga National Park in the Mt. Tshiaberimu region has plummeted by over fifty percent in just ten years – from fifteen to seven individuals.

The ALFI Foundation’s funding will aid efforts to protect this species by expanding existing Gorilla habitat by 22%, or 1,500 acres, through land purchases from the local community, restoring and protecting the new habitat with trained rangers, and reintroducing 17 Gorillas that were recently rescued from Gorilla traffickers back into the wild in the newly secured and restored habitat of Mt. Tshiaberimu.

Alshair Fiyaz Provides Aid Across Today’s Most Urgent Crises

The ALFI Foundation stands today as one of the leading international humanitarian non-profit organizations, supporting a wide array of initiatives designed to empower the underprivileged, persecuted and beleaguered across continents.

Driven by the unifying ethos of compassion, the ALFI Foundation has supported everything from the development of underprivileged communities, empowering social mobility and supporting the world’s endangered wildlife.

For instance, in Beirut, Lebanon the Alfi Foundation provides financial assistance to over 100 single-parent families at the Burj Barajneh refugee camp that would otherwise be left without the bare necessities of life. And in Varanasi, India, the Alfi Foundation led the initiative to sponsor 1,500 struggling families through the holiday month of Ramadan. At the same time, the Alfi Foundation can be found supporting girls and boy’s projects as well as local educational and youth development institutions in Pinsk, Belarus. These are just several of the copious international advancement projects that the foundation has launched in recent years.

Furthermore, beyond the organization’s sovereign work, ALFI Foundation Chairman Alshair Fiyaz has become a prominent benefactor of UNICEF in his own right.

Alshair recently partnered with UNICEF to spearhead the eradication of Polio in his native country of Pakistan. With Alshair’s help, UNICEF is now better placed to deliver vaccines, strengthen supervision on the spread of disease and boost prevention.

As illustrated not only by his philanthropic endeavors but also by his business ventures, such as the sustainable model community of Bellakvarter, Copenhagen, Fiyaz has built a notable reputation for forward-thinking leadership, environmental conservation and humanitarian compassion.
