GoPro Unveils MAX2 8K 360 Camera, LIT HERO Mini Cam, and Fluid Pro AI Gimbal

GoPro launches MAX2 8K 360 camera with swappable lenses, LIT HERO mini cam, and Fluid Pro AI gimbal

GoPro Redefines Its Lineup with Three New Products

GoPro has introduced a bold new lineup, headlined by the MAX2 360-degree camera, the brand’s first true 8K consumer camera with swappable lenses. The release also includes the lifestyle-focused LIT HERO mini action camera and the Fluid Pro AI gimbal, expanding GoPro’s ecosystem beyond its traditional flagship action cam format.

Notably, this year GoPro is not launching a new HERO flagship for the first time in over a decade, choosing instead to build on the HERO13 Black while spotlighting its new products.

MAX2: The World’s First True 8K 360 Camera

The all-new GoPro MAX2 is positioned as the world’s most durable and advanced 360 camera. Unlike rivals like the Insta360 X5 and DJI Osmo 360, GoPro claims the MAX2 delivers “True 8K” video without pixel loss from stitching, offering up to 23% better resolution than its competitors.

Key features include: - Dual swappable lenses with “Twist-and-Go” replacement.
- 10-Bit Color and GP Log encoding for professional-grade editing.
- Six microphones for immersive 360° audio capture.
- 29MP 360 stills with crop-and-zoom flexibility.
- AI-driven modes like Object Tracking and MotionFrame.
- Built-in GPS, unique among 360 cameras.
- 1,960mAh battery optimized for extreme conditions.

The MAX2 is priced at $499.99 USD (£449.99 GBP) and ships September 30.

LIT HERO: GoPro’s Lifestyle Mini Camera

The LIT HERO targets everyday creators with a compact, versatile design. Equipped with a built-in light, the mini action cam records 4K video at 60fps and supports 2x slow-motion. Waterproof up to 16 feet (5 meters) and weighing just 93 grams, it offers up to 100 minutes of continuous recording on a full charge.

The LIT HERO is priced at $269.99 USD (£239.99 GBP) and ships October 21.

Fluid Pro AI: A Universal Gimbal with Smart Features

GoPro’s new Fluid Pro AI gimbal marks its first stabilizer since 2016, but this time it’s not GoPro-exclusive. Supporting devices up to 400 grams, including smartphones and compact cameras, the gimbal offers:
- 3-axis stabilization with interchangeable mounts.
- An integrated fill light for low-light shooting.
- 18-hour runtime with reverse charging capability.

The Fluid Pro AI will be available October 21 for $229.99 USD.

A New Direction for GoPro

By skipping a HERO refresh and focusing on innovative form factors, GoPro signals a shift in strategy. With the MAX2 pushing technical boundaries, the LIT HERO expanding into lifestyle markets, and the Fluid Pro AI enabling cross-device content creation, GoPro is broadening its ecosystem while redefining its role in the creator economy.
