Vector Motors: A Legacy in American Luxury

Speed enthusiasts and performance aficionados have looked at European supercar brands as the golden standard for generations, but the American evolution in luxury manufacturing spearheaded by California based Vector Motors has brought pride to an entire country by leading a revolution within one of the most controlled market segments on a global level.

During the 1980´s and 1990´s around 50 Vector supercars were manufactured using American components, the company has been working on developing a new and improved prototype, by the name of “WX-8”.

Founded in 1971 by visionary entrepreneur Gerald Wiegert, the company went on to develop and test several prototypes which received widespread media attention and audience interest including models like the W2 and the W8.

At the LA Auto Show, Mr. Wiegert presented a prototype of the WX8. The car is powered by a supercharged 10-litre all-aluminum V8 with a projected output of 1,850 horsepower (1,380 kW), which would make it more powerful than the Bugatti Veyron. Vector claims that the WX8 has a top speed of 275 mph (443 km/h) and a 0-60 time of just under three seconds.
